Albemarle County Board of Supervisors Votes to Remove At Ready, Cannons, and Cannonballs at Court Square
The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors tonight passed a resolution to remove the At Ready statue, cannons, and stack of cannonballs located in front of the historic courthouse at Court Square.

Fentress Architects Hired for Courts Project
The County has hired Fentress Architects to design and facilitate construction of the $45.2M Courts Complex Addition and Renovations project. This project includes renovations of the historic Circuit Court, renovations of the Levy Opera House building and a new General District Court that will house courtrooms and administrative operations for Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville.

COVID-19 Safety Ambassador Program Launches
Beginning August 1, 2020 and running through September 29, 2020, Albemarle County enacted Ordinance 20-E(5) to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community. The local ordinance is intended to address local trends in community transmission, in consultation with the Thomas Jefferson Health District.

On Monday, July 27th, 2020 the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors passed an emergency ordinance to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our county. This ordinance provides modifications to Forward Virginia: Phase Three guidelines. All other state guidelines remain in effect. The ordinance takes effect at 12 am, Saturday, August 1st, 2020.

This afternoon, the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors passed an emergency ordinance to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community. The ordinance will have an effective date of August 1, 2020.

Albemarle County Announces Lift Grant
The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors approved today the launch of the Albemarle County Lift Grant, a relief initiative to provide 100 grants to local small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, for costs incurred due to the public health emergency including ongoing expenses such as payroll, rent, insurance, or other operating expenses or adaptive costs such as the purchase of e-commerce equipment, website creation or upgrade to online sales.

Board of Supervisors Public Hearing on Monuments & Memorials at Court Square
The Board of Supervisors scheduled a public hearing to receive public comment on its intent to remove, relocate, contextualize, or cover the following monuments or memorials for the veterans of war located on the County-owned portion of Court Square - the statue known as "At Ready", cannons, and the stacked cannonballs.
