Albemarle County Planning Staff

Technical Committee
The Technical Committee provides general coordination and guidance on the technical aspects of the Small Area Plan research process by assisting in data collection, identifying data collection needs, and ensuring continuity between this project and other County and regional studies and initiatives.

Phase II Technical Committee
The Technical Committee is comprised of a work group meets regularly to collaboratively develop the Phase II draft work products and a steering committee meets to review and provide feedback around key project milestones. Members include community and business stakeholders.

Phase I Small Area Plan Advisory Committee
The Small Area Plan Advisory Committee is comprised of the Places29-Hydraulic and Places29-Rio Community Advisory Sub-Committees. Its role is to provide guidance for the process, by providing general advice and input to staff and the consultant team on the project and on how to encourage public input and engagement; reviewing information compiled before each Community Meeting and provide a sounding board for key study area stakeholders; and reviewing information compiled and advise staff and consultant team on best ways of summarizing input for Planning Commission and Board work sessions.

Focus Groups
Focus groups will be invited to provide input on discrete topics as identified during the reconnaissance phase. Focus groups have covered a range of topics, including area business stakeholders, young professionals, and families.
