The UVA Medicaid Program is the result of a contractual agreement among the State Medical Assistance Program, the Virginia Department of Social Services, the University of Virginia Medical Center, and the Albemarle County Department of Social Services.  The program provides Medicaid benefits to medically indigent inpatients and indigent clients treated in specified outpatient clinics at UVA. Applications are processed and sent to the client's local agency of residence.  Referred individuals are screened for potential eligibility of benefits.

  • Being on-site at the University of Virginia Medical Center for 20 years.
  • Serving all residents of the Commonwealth that are receiving services for the Hospital or Clinics.
  • Receiving an average of 280 referrals per month.
  • Being a part of the Albemarle County Department of Social Services.

This unit is comprised of 9 staff members (1 Program Manager, 1 Senior Medicaid Specialist, 5 Medicaid Specialists, and 2 Office Associates).
