GOAL 1: Advance the County’s environmental stewardship, through the integrity and innovation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and the Albemarle County Environmental Stewardship Strategic Plan (ACESSP).
Objective 1.1 By March 30, 2016: Prior to the Public Safety Firing Range being put on line, research the environmental responsibilities the County will need to adhere to; develop and put into place comprehensive standard operating procedures to ensure the County’s compliance to any and all state and federal mandates.
Objective 1.2: Improve the flow of information to the County Executive, Board of Supervisors and the general public on the advances of the County’s environmental programs.
Objective 1.3: Provide and present an annual report to the Board of Supervisors outlining accomplishments and future initiatives to advance the ACESSP, Green Chemical Program and Energy Conservation.
GOAL 2:Develop and implement resourceful and effective programs to advance the County’s goal of protecting local waterways and other natural resources.
Objective 2.1: Develop new, or enhance existing programs—including plans, procedures, policies, and data systems—to comply with recently issued State mandates.
Objective 2.2:Work with the Board of Supervisors and pertinent County staff to establish a long-term water resources program plan and to identify an appropriate means to fund the programs.
GOAL 3: Continually and proactively evaluate the operation and maintenance services and Capital needs for County facilities and grounds, ensuring existing and future needs are met.
Objective 3.1 Maintain a five and ten year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and an aggressive Preventative Maintenance (PM) program that prioritizes projects identified in the Facility Asset Management Program, work order analysis, customer input and staff inspections.
Objective 3.2: Continue to benchmark the maintenance of facilities, grounds, custodial, and copy center services with established industry standards, peer localities and the private sector.
GOAL 4: Deliver strong budgetary support for the Department of General Services; ensure excellent internal and external customer service; provide administrative services to the various divisions.
Objective 4.1: Manage the General Services Fiscal Year’s 2015/2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018 budgets.
Objective 4.2: Develop and submit to OMB the General Services requested Fiscal Year’s Operating and CIP budgets.
Objective 4.3: Oversee the Customer Service program of the department by streamlining, maintaining and analyzing available data; disseminate the information to the staff for evaluation, discussion and action.
