The Albemarle County Office of Community and Business Partnerships has defined the steps you need to take prior to operating a business from a Commercial/Industrial Zoned property, building a new structure for your business, expanding a business at your current location, or relocating your business to the County. Details regarding these sites can be found in the Albemarle Small Business Toolkit. Albemarle County has areas zoned and designated in the Comprehensive for commercial development, and maintains the majority of County’s 700 acres in farming, parkland or rural landscape.
For a list of properties suitable for offices and/or industrial development, please contact Susan Stimart, Economic Development Facilitator, 434-296-5841; or check the database below. This tool is one of many available to assist in locating available property. The County also maintains a Geographic Information System (GIS) which allows you to search by County parcel. Before signing a lease or purchasing real estate in Albemarle County, please contact the Albemarle County Community Development staff (434-296-5832) to confirm the proposed use against the zoning and Comprehensive Plan designation for the parcel, or space. This will protect the entrepreneur from investing in a location without legal permission for a given use.
