Charlottesville/Albemarle County Area Named 8th Best Unexpected Beer City
Charlottesville/Albemarle was ranked number 8 in Livability's list of top 10 beer cities
Livability.com has named the Charlottesville/Albemarle County area as number eight in its list of top ten unexpected "beer cities."
Among the breweries that earned Charlottesville a spot on the list is Starr Hill Brewery, which is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. They have half a dozen seasonal and reserve beers and offer tastings on site.
South Street Brewery is located in a former hay and grain warehouse. It offers food and live music along with it's very own beer made in the building.
About 20 miles west of Charlottesville, in Afton, sits Blue Mountain Brewery. This was opened by a former South Street brewer in 2007. Here, they craft about 20 draft beers annually and a few brews that are bottled.
Topping off the list of cities is Albuquerque, NM. That is followed by:
2) Burlington, VT
3) Akron, OH
4) Kalamazoo, MI
5) Missoula, MT
6) Lincoln, NE
7) Boise, ID
9) Louisville, KY
10) Chattanooga, TN
