Snow continues into the evening, community urged to stay off roads
12/9/2018

Public safety officials and the Virginia Department of Transportation urge motorists to stay off the roads as snow continues to fall and temperatures continue to drop through the evening. Driving conditions are treacherous and expected to deteriorate through the night.

VDOT crews and contractors will continue working around the clock on Interstate 64, primary highways and high-volume secondary roads. Snowplows are spreading a mix of sand and salt to improve traction and help melt the precipitation as it falls. Crews will switch to secondary roads and neighborhoods once the main roads are passable.
If travel is a must, drivers are advised to use caution, drive slowly, and allow public safety vehicles and snowplows the right of way.
