ALBEMARLE COUNTY LIBRARIES

Public library services in Albemarle County are provided by the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library, which serves the City of Charlottesville, as well as the counties of Nelson, Greene, and Louisa. The Library has 370,000 volumes, including videos, books-on-tape, and large print books, and circulates over 1,350,000 items annually. Reference service and book renewals are available by phone, at any branch,  and online.  Reference questions may be asked at Ask a J-MRL Librarian  http://jmrl.org/on-ask.htm   and books can renewed by going to My Account on the online catalog http://aries.jmrl.org/

Strong emphasis is placed on reference,  interlibrary loan, online databases, adult book groups and quality children's services -- including regular story times and programs.   Internet access is also available at all branches and computers are available for word processing. All residents may borrow and return library materials at any branch. Albemarle County also provides bookmobile services to the County's rural areas, retirement centers, and institutions. Library cards are available at any branch at no cost. Identification is required for registration.
