Board/Commission Name Housing Committee 
Introduction/Overview/Duties The Housing Committee provides advice and guidance to the Board of Supervisors on housing issues in furtherance of the County's goal to promote a variety of safe, sanitary and affordable housing types for Albemarle County residents of all income groups. The Chief of Housing provides staff support. 
Length of Term Initally, one-third of the membership shall be appointed for three years, one-third for two years and one-third for one year. All subsequent appointments shall be a three-year term with a limit of two consecutive terms. All terms, with the exception of those filling unexpired terms, shall begin on January 1. 
Frequency/Times for Meetings The Committee meets on the second Thursday of each month. 
Membership The Board of Supervisors shall appoint at least nine members to the Housing Committee. The Committee should include representation from the following areas or organizations:

Real Estate
Financial Community
Legal Community
Housing Coalition
Charlottesville Housing Foundation
Albemarle Housing Improvement Program
Property Management
University of Virginia
Habitat for Humanity 
Qualifications A willingness to attend meetings and actively participate, a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of affordable housing issues in Albemarle County, expertise and/or experience in representing constituent concerns, an ability to work in collaboration with others, and an interest in community service.
