A Zoning Map Amendment (ZMA) application is needed when an applicant seeks to change the zoning district that applies to one or more parcels of land. ZMA applications are subject to a legislative review process. The legislative review process is designed to provide a means by which the numerous reviews and recommendations of all applicable Albemarle County, State and Federal agencies can be coordinated. County staff evaluate the project’s consistency with all applicable recommendations specified by the Comprehensive Plan and Master Plan.
