In FY24, Albemarle County designed and launched programs that make our community more resilient, equitable, and engaged, ranging from the Community Climate Action Grant program to the Climate Resilience Cohort. The County will continue to prioritize and amplify this work in year two of the Strategic Plan, aided by an Environmental Justice Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency.

Resilient, Equitable, Engaged

  • 76 actions from the Climate Action Plan have begun.
  • 72% of stormwater management facilities are in compliance with operations and maintenance requirements.
  • The County operates 13 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at it's office buildings on McIntire and 5th Street. Ten of the charging spaces are available for public use, with three of the charging spaces reserved for County electric vehicle use. These stations save an average savings of 15,600kg of greenhouse gas emissions per month.
  • The County's street sweeper operations swept 632 lane miles of roadway.
