Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact the Charlottesville-Albemarle area.
With this training, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in our community.

Knox Box
Knox Box provides first responders with immediate access into secure buildings, campuses, residences, and commercial properties when it matters most. Removing barriers to entry reduces injuries to responders and minimizes property damage.
ACFR encourages the installation of a Knox Box at all commercial properties. Visit the Knox Box website for ordering information. When you make a purchase, you will be prompted to enter your location (choose Virginia), followed by “Albemarle” as your location fire department/agency.
For location suggestions and key installations, please contact our Community Risk & Resilience Section by email ACFRGroupCR&R@albemarle.org or by calling 434-296-5833, option 1.
