Purpose
The purpose of the Albemarle County Department of Social Services Advisory Board Members, consisted of an appointee from each magisterial district, to interest itself in all matters pertaining to the social welfare of the people of the county. Specifically, its charge is to:
- To monitor the formulation and implementation of social welfare programs in the county;
- To be an advocate for community issues for:
- The department with the community
- With the Board of Supervisors
- With the State and federal government
- To be a liaison with the Board of Supervisors and magisterial district
- To seek knowledge about departmental services and the community
- To advise on policies that would help the department focus energy on specific opportunities.
Meetings
The third Tuesday of each month, 3:30 – 5:00 pm at the Human Services County Office Building on 5th Street Extended.
