Report Adult Abuse, Neglect, or Exploitation in Albemarle County
To report concerns of abuse, neglect, or exploitation directly to Albemarle County call 434-972-4010, Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. Ask to speak to the Adult Service Intake Worker.
For after-hours and on weekends, please call the State Hotline at 888-832-3858.

What to Report
Below is a list of what to report.
- The name of adult being reported
- The adult’s age and disability
- Where the incident occurred
- A description of how the adult is at risk or is currently being abused, neglected and/or exploited
- Indicators of Adult Abuse, Neglect, or Exploitation
About Adult Protective Services
Adult Protective Services (APS) is on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive and investigate reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation regarding persons 60 years or older and adults who are 18 or older and who are incapacitated. Intervention, APS services, and adult services are provided based on assessment. Any person may report suspected abuse to APS.
