HELP WITH RENT AND UTILITIES

 ACERP (Albemarle County Emergency Relief Program) can help with rent, utilities, and reconnection fees. 

Applications are accepted at Albemarle County Department of Social Services. The application can be given in person, emailed or mailed to perspective customer.  Benefits are determined and authorizations are sent to vendors only. Payments will not be given to customers.  ACERP is intended to meet a household’s emergency rent and utilities needs ONLY, when no other financial resources are available in our community.  If there are additional questions or you wish to schedule an appointment or time to apply over the phone, you may also email acerp@albemarle.org. Please allow a response time up to 48 hours after the request for assistance.

Assistance is based on the availability of funds. To be eligible, a household must contain at least one of the following eligibility criteria:

Eligibility Criteria:

• Medically vulnerable household members
• Household members who are under the age of 6
• Household member working with any of the Albemarle County Child Welfare Programs
• Household member who is currently receiving DSS benefits
