To find out if you may be eligible, please call 1-855-635-4370, apply for Medicaid online, or visit CoverVirginia.org. Medicaid applications can take up to 45 days for determinations.

Health Insurance Eligibility

Pregnant women may be eligible for medical care during pregnancy if they meet certain financial and non-financial criteria through the Medicaid program. Additionally, while individuals residing in the US without legal presence may not qualify for coverage during their pregnancy, they may qualify for emergency medical services.

Dental Coverage

Women eligible for Medicaid coverage during their pregnancy may receive dental benefits during pregnancy. Dental services are administered through the Smiles for Children program.

For assistance in finding a dentist or for more information, please call Smiles for Children at 1-888-912-3456.

Health Insurance for Children

Babies born to Medicaid-enrolled mothers at the time of birth are automatically eligible for Medicaid coverage for the first year of life. Women must report the birth of their child so their child can be enrolled.

You can report the birth by calling 1-855-635-4370 or online at Virginia CommonHelp or CoverVirginia.org.
