Home MenuSite Development Plans
A site plan application is needed when an applicant wishes to develop land for commercial, industrial, or multifamily residential use. A site plan is a detailed engineering plan that contains all of the essential details necessary to construct site improvements. The site plan review process is designed to provide a means by which the numerous reviews and recommendations of all applicable Albemarle County, State and Federal agencies can be coordinated.
- Initial Site Plan and Major Site Plan Amendment applications are reviewed by the Site Review Committee.
- Preapplication Plans, Final Site Plans, Minor Site Plan Amendments, and Letters of Revision are subject to administrative review timelines with applicable staff members.
- Parcels opting into the Rio29 Form-Based Code overlay district receive standard site plan reviews under the Rio29 Form-Based Code regulations. See the Form-Based Code Resources below.
- Before applying, review the Initial Site Plan Checklist. For Form-Based Code applications, additionally review the FBC Addenda Checklist.
