Public Transit
The county does not operate its own public transit service but works with three partner agencies to provide service throughout the County. JAUNT is a service provider offering rural on-demand service, commuter routes, and paratransit services within Albemarle County. Commuter routes they operate include the Crozet Connect, 29 North Connect, and regular routes from locations outside of Albemarle to throughout the greater Charlottesville Area.
Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) is a City of Charlottesville department which provides fixed-route bus service throughout the greater Charlottesville area including Albemarle County. The third service provider is University Transit Service (UTS) which primarily serves University of Virginia students in the immediate area surrounding the University. UTS allows the public to ride on their system for free.
